Quick Hitter Preview: Blackhawks vs. Flames
Hawks vs. Flames – 1/7/19
The Blackhawks picked up their first win of 2019 last night in Pittsburgh. They are back in action tonight when they host the Western Conference-leading Calgary Flames. The Flames have beaten the Blackhawks twice so far this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM central time.
- Defenseman Gustav Forsling was a last-minute scratch last night due to an upper-torso injury. In his place, Brandon Davidson played in his first contest since having knee surgery in mid-November. Henri Jokiharju is back in Chicago after winning gold at the World Junior Championships with Finland, but it’s unclear if he will be back in the lineup tonight or wait until Wednesday.
- The Hawks goaltenders have picked up the slack since Corey Crawford sustained a concussion on December 16th. Head coach Jeremy Colliton elected to start Cam Ward last night in Pittsburgh so Collin Delia will be in net tonight. Delia made 47 saves on Thursday against the Islanders to steal a point for the Hawks in a game they didn’t even deserve to be in.
- The Flames have won three of their last five games, and Johnny Gaudreau has been a huge reason why. He has recorded 11 points over that span, including back-to-back four-point performances in his last game of 2018 and first of 2019.
*Lineup based on last night at Pittsburgh. Hayden could slot in for Kunitz, and Jokiharju could possibly return tonight as well. Still no word on Forsling’s status.

After being traded to Edmonton, former Blackhawk defenseman Brandon Manning played in three games. He has now regressed to his natural state as a healthy scratch. Meanwhile, Drake Caggiula was a plus-one and recorded two shots on goal and three hits in his Blackhawks debut last night.
