Sharks defeat the Hawks 5-2

The Blackhawks were looking to regain some momentum after a very disappointing loss to the Kings. After a good effort early to keep it close, the Sharks blew the game open in the third period. Three consecutive goals put the Blackhawks away for their second consecutive loss. Check out the highlight reel here:

First Period:

Sharks get the scoring started with a beauty by Hertl through Ward’s five hole:

Just before the period ended, a 2-on-1 for Strome and DeBrincat ended in this snipe:

Second Period:

Timo Meier’s tip in the mid-slot sneaks past Ward to give the Sharks the lead:

Cam Ward keeps the Hawks in the game after Meier’s goal with some huge saves:

Gustafsson ties the game with his 13th goal of the season about five minutes later:

Third Period:

Big play by Joe Thornton sets up Sorensen for the 3-2 lead:

Another deflection out in front, this time by Melker Karlsson, gives the Sharks the 4-2 lead:

To put the dagger in the Hawks’ chest, Melker Karlsson gets the empty net goal, then hands out a puck for being the 1st star of the game:
