Beer Review: Leinenkugel’s Northwoods Lager

It has a slight pine aroma that plays perfectly into its name.

While I was off the grid for the holiday weekend up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, I came across a beer that was rather fitting for my trip. I’ve tried a few Leinenkugel’s beers before, most notably Summer Shandy, but I was surprised that I had never heard of their Northwoods Lager before this weekend.

This brew sits at a nice 4.9% ABV, which makes it an extremely drinkable lager. It has a slight pine aroma that plays perfectly into its name. Northwoods Lager won’t ambush your tastebuds, but it has a nice crisp taste with the slightest bit of sweetness that makes it go down smoothly. I would recommend this one as the perfect complement to any outdoor activities, especially camping, fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. I’ll definitely be picking up another case when I head back up to northern Wisconsin for the Fourth of July.
