Ahead of the completion of Monday’s game and the start of the regularly scheduled Tuesday game, the White Sox placed righty relief pitcher Ryan Burr on the ten-day injured list with a right elbow capsule strain. I’m not a doctor, but in my limited research on this type of injury, the usual culprit is overuse.
Burr has been impressive in his last seven outings, one of which was his first career start as the opener. He racked up 11 strikeouts and a 3.12 ERA in almost nine innings of work over that span.
In his place, the White Sox have once again recalled Jose Ruiz. You have to figure that he’s racking up the airline miles with all of these flights between Chicago and Charlotte, as he was sent down as recently as last Tuesday following a loss to the Astros. Ruiz has made 13 appearances for the White Sox this year going 0-0 with a 5.11 ERA and an unimpressive 9:7 strikeout to walk ratio.
