It was reported by European media during the IIHF Worlds, but now it’s official: the Blackhawks have inked Dominik Kubalik to a one-year deal. He was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick back in January.
The 23-year-old Czech forward put on quite a show at the IIHF World Championships, where he recorded six goals and six assists over ten games. He was the eighth-leading scorer in the tournament in addition to being the top-ranked Hawks representative on the stat sheet.
Kubalik has a bit of chemistry with Blackhawks forward Dominik Kahun dating back to their OHL Sudbury Wolves days from 2012-2014. He will compete for a roster spot at Training Camp with a very good chance to enter the Hawks forward corps.
