Alright, It’s Time. Call Up Dylan Cease
The buzz around the South Side is in full effect right now. The White Sox are two games under .500 and two games out of the last AL Wild-Card spot.
The buzz around the South Side is in full effect right now. The White Sox are two games under .500 and two games out of the last AL Wild-Card spot. Now, I understand that the White Sox have a -47 run differential and they have had one of the easiest schedules of all 30 teams in the MLB, but they’re winning ball games.
I write this as I sit and think to myself, why not give it a shot? Bring up Dylan Cease.
It’s no secret that the starting rotation is less than stellar. Lucas Giolito has been a bright spot, Reynaldo Lopez has been inconsistent, do I really have to write about Dylan Covey, Manny Banuelos, and Ivan Nova? Losing Carlos Rodon to Tommy John surgery was like a gut punch and not having Michael Kopech this year due to that same surgery hurts just as much. Not to forget to mention another Tommy John surgery in pitching prospect, Dane Dunning as well.
The point here is I understand Rick Hahn has said needs at the big league level will not sway his decision to call up any prospect. This isn’t just any prospect though, Rick. Dylan Cease is the real deal and can help contribute to the White Sox winning ball games now. Dylan helps fill one of the holes in our starting rotation and it gives him the Major League experience he needs. Haven’t we seen enough of Dylan Covey or Manny Bañuelos?
Obviously one of those guys will move to the pen once Dylan gets called up and that’s okay. We know we are going to get rocky starts from them both, so let’s see what Dylan can do.
The offense has been good lately. Why not add to our starting pitching and see what this team can really do. Dallas Kuechel is still out there too. Make a splash, be risky, do anything you can to not lose this momentum. White Sox fans are buzzing, let’s keep it that way. BRING UP CEASE!
