In the second inning of tonight’s matchup with the Atlanta Braves, Cubs catcher Willson Contreras took Braves pitcher Julio Teheran deep to make the game 1-0 Cubs. As everyone and their mother knows, this was the milestone 56th home run of his career while playing catcher for the Chicago Cubs.
See what I mean? While intended to not bring this up until he passed Michael Barrett, AKA the Iron Jaw, why is this mega accomplishment being overshadowed? Oh yeah, the benches kinda sorta cleared.
That video comes at the tail end of the trot. When we take a look at the immediate aftermath, it tells a further tale.
I’ll be honest, I think expecting to be “decked” may be a bit Extreme (it’s ok if you don’t get it), I definitely understand that there is a reaction to it all the same. I’m no lip reader, and even though ‘I Love You’ is not the words Tyler Flowers would expect to hear, I kinda doubt that’s what Willy said.
