Chicago Bulls Forward, Denzel Valentine is about a week away from being cleared for 5-on-5 scrimmages. This comes from a recent post by The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry. Denzel said he is looking forward to getting back on the floor and is hoping he can adjust rather quickly.
“It’s going to be an adjustment,” said Valentine. “But I’ve played two years in the league, so I think I’m going to adjust quicker than I think. It’s just going to take a little bit of time. And I understand that.”
Denzel missed the entire 2018-2019 NBA season due to ankle surgery that was originally supposed to sideline him for 4-6 months. Obviously, it didn’t go as planned as the season was lost, but Denzel is eager to prove himself on the court.
“I was just continuing to improve,” Valentine told Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic. “That was something big. I think I’ll keep doing that, just showing my improvements. I was getting more comfortable in my role and showing my capabilities and my whole floor game from my first year to my second year. This third year, I’m going to take it to another level too. Just show what I can do and take everything to the next level.”
Denzel has the opportunity to be a vital bench piece moving forward with the young Chicago Bulls squad as currently constructed. Denzel can step out and hit the three at a decent clip and isn’t bad getting to the rim either.
Team injuries have been a thorn in the Bulls side for the better part of a decade, so if they want any chance at making the postseason, they need to be healthy.
