
In today’s game against the San Francisco Giants, Kris Bryant was pulled in the bottom of the 5th inning with what is currently being termed “knee soreness.”
In the top of 5th Bryant struck out swinging during his third AB of the game. He also went down swinging in the 1st, and in the 3rd he did this:
An injury would come at a terrible time for Bryant, who has been putting up numbers reminiscent of his Rookie of the Year and MVP seasons. This year he’s slashing .299/.405/.562 to go with 21HR and 51RBI, good for a 146 OPS+.
At this time we don’t know much more, but if it is serious it couldn’t have come at a worse time. With Willson Contreras returning today and Cole Hamels‘ return imminent, it looked as though the Cubs were moving part their injury woes.
