BREAKING: Cubs Acquire Reliever from Blue Jays; Recall Underwood from Triple-A

As their first move of the final 24 hours before the trade deadline, the Cubs elected to acquire reliever David Phelps from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Double-A RHP Thomas Hatch.

As their first move of the final 24 hours before the trade deadline, the Cubs elected to acquire reliever David Phelps from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Double-A RHP Thomas Hatch. Phelps isn’t a superstar by any means, but another reliever never hurts down the stretch.

In addition, the Cubs have recalled RHP Duane Underwood from Triple-A Iowa. This move also sends RHP Pedro Strop to the IL.

This may be a sign as to why Strop has struggled as of late. Perhaps he has been trying to battle through an injury that ultimately became too much to fight through.

Buckle up Cubs fans! The next 24 hours will be crazy.
