Cubs Acquire Nick Castellanos

The Cubs got their man! Nick Castellanos is coming to the North Side.

It came down to the wire at the trade deadline, but the Cubs got their right-handed bat in Nicholas Castellanos:

The Cubs traded AA starter Alex Lange (a 2017 first-round pick) and High-A starter Paul Richan (a 2018 second-round pick) to the Tigers to complete the deal at the last minute.

Castellanos has a .790 OPS and 106 wRC+ this season with a 1.026 OPS vs. lefties. More to come on Castellanos as the day progresses.

UPDATE – 4:11 PM

The Cubs have also reportedly traded relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. to the San Diego Padres.

The returning piece from San Diego has not been made public yet.
