Two Top Prospects Set To Jump Minor League Levels
The White Sox made some announcements Wednesday morning regarding the promotions of two big prospects.
The first splash of prospect news that was announced Wednesday morning was that first base prospect Andrew Vaughn will be promoted from the Low-A Kannapolis Intimidators to the High-A Winston-Salem Dash. Vaughn performed well in his brief stint with Kannapolis, where he hit .253/.388/.410 to go along with two homers and 11 RBIs across 23 games.
Vaughn is not only highly-regarded within the White Sox organization, but he is also ranked as the top first base prospect in professional baseball according to new rankings listed by MLB.com.
The Vaughn to High-A news wasn’t the only big move that was made, however.
Not much more than one hour later, news also broke that Nick Madrigal was promoted from AA Birmingham to AAA Charlotte. This move was a long time coming for Madrigal, who simply dominated in 42 games with the Barons. He hit .341/.400/.451 while hitting 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, and drove in 16 runs while stealing 16 bases and only striking out FIVE TIMES in 180 plate appearances. The fourth-ranked second baseman prospect in all of professional baseball is back in the same lineup with his former AA teammate Luis Robert, who is also at his stop until reaching the major leagues.
Speaking of Luis Robert…. wouldn’t now be the perfect time to announce the Prospect Trifecta and call him up to play center field for the White Sox? While unlikely, we can all dream of him chasing down fly balls and crushing home runs on the South Side soon enough.
