By NCAA basketball correspondent Andy Katz tweeted out his “16 Names You’ll Be Hearing in March Madness and why” article this morning. Coming in at number 13 was Illini guard Ayo Dosunmu.
When is the last time you’ve seen Illinois get any good basketball press? Maybe 2015 when they came up a game or two shy of a tournament birth? The tide seems to be turning, as Katz also included Illinois in his preseason power 36 rankings earlier in the summer.
This is awesome for the school. As Illini fans, we’ve been the butt of so many jokes, and it’s finally going to turn around this year. I can feel it in my bones. The Illini will be a tournament team. I don’t have the notoriety in the basketball world that Andy Katz does, but this will happen. We need this.
