No, Carmelo. You Were Never Coming To The Chicago Bulls.

Let’s face the facts. Carmelo, you were never coming to Chicago. You used their interest to skyrocket your contract and hold the Knicks over a barrel.

Carmelo Anthony appeared on ESPN’s First Take this morning and let’s just say it was interesting. I do not know Carmelo Anthony personally, of course, but I do think of him as a “me-first” guy. When he hit free agency in 2014, he was heavily courted by the Chicago Bulls. Obviously, he ended up going back to New York, and the story from there basically writes itself.

The issue I have with the comments about the Bulls is that Melo heard some things. Was he eluding to GarPax being dysfunctional? Was he just playing up to how media portrays the Bulls front office? It’s easy to do that when you’re trying to look like the good guy in all these situations. You said you were geared to join Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, but the whispers and outside influences were too much. Don’t throw the Bulls under the bus for your shortcomings and decisions.

Let’s face the facts. Carmelo, you were never coming to Chicago. You used their interest to skyrocket your contract and hold the Knicks over a barrel. Plain and simple, no debating that. You went back to a Knicks team that had been struggling with you as the star for the almighty dollar. No one blames you for that, at least I don’t.

Throughout the entire interview, you make it seem like it was GM’s not giving you a shot and claiming it was “deeper than basketball.” I mean, you even said that about Rockets GM Daryl Morey. This is the reason you were let go from Houston.

Maybe it’s time to look in the mirror and realize that you aren’t the player you think you are. You may have been a good teammate and a good locker room guy, but you were always me-first.
