Seby Zavala, Matt Skole Return to the Show

The White Sox made a couple of roster moves ahead of their weekend series at Philidelphia.

Catcher Seby Zavala has been recalled by the White Sox. He will join the big league club for the second time this season after getting a small cup of coffee earlier this season while Welington Castillo was on the IL. Zavala will replace Castillo once again, as the veteran catcher was placed on the family medical emergency leave list.

In his first stint in the big leagues, Zavala went 1-9 while getting rung up seven times. He will need to improve those numbers in a larger sample size if he wants to remain in the majors. Seby gets the call over teammate and former first-round draft pick Zack Collins, who saw big league action as well earlier this summer.

In addition to Zavala, first baseman/designated hitter Matt Skole will also be making the trip from Charlotte to Philadelphia for his second stint with the White Sox. Skole hit a home run in his brief time (four games, 13 plate appearances) with the White Sox last spring. He will replace AJ Reed, who was assigned to AAA Charlotte following yesterday’s loss to the New York Mets.
