In last night’s extra-innings affair against the Philadelphia Phillies, Carson Fulmer came up to the plate in the top of the 14th inning to hit for himself. He made some solid contact on a hard groundball to third base but was thrown out and favored his right leg as he ran through first. It turns out that he did indeed sustain a strained right hamstring, as he was placed on the 10-day injured list ahead of tonight’s game.
Dylan Covey will take his place in the White Sox bullpen for the time being. This move comes as a surprise because Covey has been just plain bad in the second half of the season.

As a result of the performances shown above, he was optioned to AAA Charlotte not even a week ago. Unfortunately, Covey seems to be the only option to fill the vacated roster spot for the time being. Kelvin Herrera got roughed up in his first appearance on a rehab stint with the Knights yesterday (1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 HR), and the rest of the Charlotte pitching outlook is, shall we say, bleak.
