The Chicago Cubs came to terms with old NL Central foe Jonathan Lucroy today. While he is no longer the all-star caliber backstop he once was with the Milwaukee Brewers, he aims to be a piece of what fills a huge void left behind by Willson Contreras, who will be on the IL for at least four weeks.
Lucroy was once considered amongst the best pitch framers in all of baseball, with a sudden decline in that skill hitting him like the catching yips. Right now he has the greatest ability the Cubs could ask for, availability. Who knows, maybe a return to the NL Central will spark some new fire within him. Likely, no. Possible, why not? The Cubs are due a little positive regression to the mean in the luck category.
