White Sox Announce 2020 ‘Field of Dreams’ Game

The White Sox screening ‘Field of Dreams’ after Friday’s game runs deeper than just a promotional event.

The White Sox have a peculiar 2:10 PM start time scheduled for Friday’s game against the Oakland Athletics. The initial reasoning behind this was a postgame screening of ‘Field of Dreams’ on the scoreboard, but there’s also a big announcement that goes along with it. MLB posted the following video on their Twitter account Wednesday night as a precursor.

On Thursday morning, the White Sox confirmed the speculation.

The game will take place at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa against the New York Yankees on August 13th, 2020. While the nostalgic concept will draw attention to the game, the logistical aspects are certainly intriguing, to say the least.

Clearly, the Field of Dreams as it stands is not capable of hosting a professional baseball game. According to Scott Gregor, there will be a temporary stadium with a capacity of 8,000 that will play host to the White Sox and Yankees.
