Tomorrow night has great potential for an epic showdown! The main event of UFC Fight Night 156 has Valentina Shevchenko taking on Liz Carmouche for the Women’s Flyweight Championship. These fighters are so similar in size with the only real significant difference being a minuscule height disadvantage for Shevchenko and an extra half-inch of reach disadvantage for Carmouche.
It seems like only yesterday that Shevchenko destroyed Jessica Eye’s eyes in one of the craziest head kicks I’ve ever seen.
HOLY SMOKES! 🔥 Valentina Shevchenko knocked out Jessica Eye at #UFC238 with one of the most devastating kicks you’ll ever see — or hear (sound up)https://t.co/sxTLnUskzi

Almost exactly two months to the day, Shevchenko is fighting again and yet again it’s against another formidable opponent.
This title fight is more than just defending a championship belt. For Shevchenko, this one is personal. She is looking to avenge a TKO loss to Carmouche dating back nearly ten years. She may be 17-3, but I doubt she’s forgotten any of those losses.
For
Carmouche, this Championship belt could put her back on the worldwide map. She’s
won her last two fights and is looking to solidify her position at the top of
the Flyweight division.
So now that both fighters made weight, how does this one pan out tomorrow night?
Shevchenko will use her fury of kicks and power to win this one. She will look to finish this fight by knockout and if she gets that window, she’ll do it. You can see the look in her eyes during weigh-ins that she hasn’t forgotten what happened last time they fought and she looks ready.
Carmouche
wins this one with a submission. I think if she can catch Shevchenko in a
transition she can pull off the unlikely. Easier said than done but if her
reputation has shown us anything it’s that she’s tenacious and resilient.
