Cedric Benson Passed Away

Former Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson has passed away at the age of 36.

Some very sad news to report today: former fourth overall pick and Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson has passed away. Cedric was a Bear from the 2005-07 seasons. He spent the next four seasons in Cincinnati with the Bengals and finished his career with a one-year stint in Green Bay.

He was involved in an apparent motorcycle accident late last night in Austin, Texas. There was another fatality involved in the accident however; there are no more details at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and all those involved. We will update as soon as more details emerge.

Per TMZ Sports, Benson’s motorcycle crashed into a minivan. He had a passenger with him on the back of the motorcycle who also passed and has yet to be identified. It appears that a fire ignited after the collision. The people in the minivan survived with injuries and are not expected to be charged. Poor visibility and speed are suspected here.
