It was announced today that the Chicago Bulls waived guard Antonio Blakeney.
Blakeney was a stand out for the Windy City Bulls, which is the Bulls NBA G-League team. It seems that the talent and offensive explosion in the G-League never translated to the NBA game.
In 76 games played, Blakeney averaged 7.5 PPG, 8 APG, and 1.8 RPG, while shooting 42% from the field and 35% from deep. The Bulls are very heavy at the guard position with the likes of Kris Dunn, Tomas Satoransky, Denzel Valentine, Shaq Harrison, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Zach LaVine. Someone had to be the odd man out and it turned out to be Blakeney.
As K.C said in the tweet mentioned above, the Bulls signing Shaq Harrison most likely played a part in this. Shaq is a better two-way player and can be somewhat explosive offensively.
This brings the Bulls down to 15 contracts entering the 2019-2020 NBA season.
