It appears the competition for the starting Bulls point guard spot has heated up in the month of September. Chicago Bulls players reported a month before training camp began to start getting reps in. Coach Boylen came up with this idea and was very pleased by the whole roster showing up. This gave a chance for Kris Dunn to show off the improvements he made during the offseason. Many fans and journalists had ruled Kris Dunn the odd man out when the Bulls drafted Coby White and traded for Tomas Satoransky. It seems that only fueled his fire. Kris came to Chicago in September with the rest of the roster and put his teammates on notice. He did this so well the front office and Jim Boylen took notice as well.
Dunn has always had that “dog” mentality and it seems like he is ready to defend what he thinks is rightfully his. The Chicago Bulls starting point guard position. Amidst all the trade rumors, Kris kept his head down and worked his ass off and evidently, it showed.
Kris surrounded himself with the right people this offseason and showed what kind of team player he is.
Just to throw in one quick note, it was nice to see and read that the front office was nothing but honest with Kris. They told him during last year’s exit meetings that they were looking to upgrade the point guard position and that must have been the fire that initially got Kris going to improve his game.
One thing is for sure, I still think Kris Dunn can be a starter on this team and be effective. His is a menace on the defensive side of the ball and a good playmaker. If he can cut the turnovers down and hit the three with some consistency, it’s really his job to lose.
