Breaking news out of Chicago this morning that 2019 third-overall pick Kirby Dach will make his NHL debut tonight at the United Center against the Washington Capitals.
Dach has yet to play an NHL game, including preseason, due to a concussion suffered against the Minnesota Wild prospects in the Traverse City Prospect Tournament back in September. Dach has played three games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs as a part of a conditioning stint. He registered zero points in those three games.
The young Canadian forward was re-called by the Blackhawks after their 3–2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Dach himself had just finished his final game with the IceHogs in Rockford against the Chicago Wolves.
All eyes will be on the prized prospect for Chicago. There is no word on where in the lineup he will play, but we will keep you updated on the matter.
Fans everywhere are curious to see what happens with Kirby Dach’s future. On Tap Sports Net covered the idea over the summer, and you can find that piece here.
There is good chance he either gets the full nine games with the Blackhawks, before being returned to Saskatoon in the WHL, or he remains with the team for the full NHL season. Nonetheless, Kirby Dach now has to prove to the Blackhawks that he is worth keeping around for more than just nine games.
