According to Adan Lesther, the White Sox are one of seven teams vying for Marcell Ozuna‘s services. Ozuna slashed .243/.330/.474 with 29 HRs and 89 RBIs with the Cardinals last season. Ozuna has accumulated a 20.3 fWAR over his seven seasons in the majors with the Cardinals and Marlins. Ozuna has a big arm and a career .987 fielding percentage, so his play in the outfield to go along with his bat would fit nicely at Guaranteed Rate Field.
I think Ozuna would fit well in the White Sox lineup, but for that price, I don’t see the value. If it were something along the lines of $105M/seven years, I could get behind that, but there are some better options the White Sox could trade for. With the restrictions owner Jerry Reinsdorf has on spending, the White Sox should use that money on other areas and find the future right fielder via trade.
