Perlini was acquired by the Hawks last year along with Dylan Strome in a deal that sent Nick Schmaltz to Arizona. While playing fairly consistent minutes for the Hawks down the stretch last season, Perlini flashed his offensive upside in a March 11th contest against his former team, recording his first career hat trick in front of the home crowd.
Brendan Perlini scores in each period on March 11, 2019, for his first career hat trick.
Perlini signed a team-friendly one-year deal in the offseason that carried just an $874,125 cap hit. But with the arrival of first-round draft pick Kirby Dach as well as offseason additions Andrew Shaw, Ryan Carpenter, Alexander Nylander, and Zack Smith, Perlini has been a healthy scratch in all but one game so far in the young 2019-20 season. Likely frustrated with his playing time opportunities, it’s no surprise that Perlini would be seeking a move that would allow him some ice time, and it seems the Blackhawks are going to honor his wishes and seek a trade partner.
