BREAKING: Blackhawks Call Up Adam Boqvist

The Blackhawks eighth overall draft pick from 2018 has finally made it to the show.

It’s finally time. The Blackhawks have officially recalled Adam Boqvist from the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

The Hawks eighth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft began this season at the AHL level to fine-tune some things after a decent showing during preseason action. While at Rockford, he posted one goal and a plus-one rating over six games. That lone goal came on the power play last night.

With Connor Murphy on injured reserve, the Blackhawks have been searching for answers on the blue line. Dennis Gilbert was initially recalled. He has looked average in a few games and bad in others. Slater Koekkoek has also had ups and downs, posting a plus-four rating and two assists on Sunday night before committing two penalties and looking lost on the ice at Nashville on Tuesday. Boqvist will bring an elite offensive ability to the Hawks defensive corps, which could in turn help spark the offense. He will most likely make his debut on Saturday night when the Blackhawks visit the Los Angeles Kings.
