What a day to be Anthony Rizzo. On Sunday, Anthony Rizzo not only had his 2020 option picked up, paying him $16.5 million for the season, but he also won his third career Gold Glove for NL first basemen.
Rizzo is incredibly deserving of the award. The franchise pillar has found himself consistently in contention for the award year-in and year-out. He has been a model of defensive stability at first base and has been a huge part of the historically good defense the Cubs have sported over the last four years prior to the 2019 season.
After Jose Quintana‘s option was picked up, the Cubs now have solidified two players for the 2020 season. These are just a couple of the many necessary moves for next season.
Congratulations to Anthony Rizzo on his money for 2020 and another Gold Glove award!
