Back on October 28th, the Blackhawks traded forward Brendan Perlini to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defensive prospect Alec Regula. Today, the Blackhawks and Regula agreed to terms on a three-year deal.

The 19-year-old blueliner will earn $897,500 AAV through the 2021-22 season. He currently plays with the OHL London Knights, where he will stay for the remainder of the season. Blackhawks defenseman Adam Boqvist was a teammate of Regula’s in London last season, and the two dynamic prospects teamed up for a highlight-reel goal.

Regula, a 6-foot-4 right-handed defenseman, has recorded seven goals and eight assists over 14 contests for the Knights so far this season. His combination of size and offensive prowess makes for an intriguing profile, so he is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
