The last time the New York Knicks played the Chicago Bulls, it wasn’t pretty. The Bulls were up 52-42 going into halftime, but then the wheels fell off the bus.
Led by former Bull Bobby Portis, the Knicks came roaring back and ended up beating the Bulls 105-98 at Madison Square Garden. Chicago Bulls center Wendell Carter Jr. said that isn’t happening this time. Bobby dropped 28 points and added 11 boards to spark the Knicks comeback.
The biggest takeaway from this Wendell Carter Jr. quote is how he is emerging as the Bulls leader. He has been vocal lately about both the team’s performance and his teammates. Wendell made comments on Lauri Markkanen, who has been struggling as of late. “I’m going to stay in his ear because I believe in him. I’ve seen what he’s capable of. I have high expectations.”
Though the season has started off poorly and the Bulls are not living up to expectations, the growth of WCJ should not be underappreciated.
