After moving on from the former guard to begin this offseason, the White Sox have hired their new assistant hitting coach.
Scott Coolbaugh most recently served as the hitting coach for the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, so he comes from a strong organization. Before that, he served as the Orioles’ hitting coach, where he helped turn around some of their woes at the plate. With this hire, player development is key. Coolbaugh is a strong piece to accompany head hitting coach Frank Menechino. Hiring from the outside should benefit the White Sox, as they will be able to combine a familiar organizational mind in Menechino with an outsider approach from Coolbaugh.
