Great news coming from the Cubs rumor wire today as reports indicate that Javier Baez and the Cubs are already beginning to discuss a contract extension.

As reported by Gordon Wittenmyer, the Cubs are beginning to head in the right direction by working toward locking up one of their core players before he hits free agency after 2021.

If the Cubs can get Baez for a solid number that doesn’t break a bank, they will be in good shape with the likes of Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo needing new deals. Keep an eye on On Tap Sports Net for an article focusing on Bryant this weekend.
