With Lehner Sick, Lankinen Recalled

With Robin Lehner experiencing flu-like symptoms, the Blackhawks have recalled Kevin Lankinen from Rockford.

An already shorthanded Blackhawks team will head into tonight’s game down another key player.

Robin Lehner, who most likely would have started in goal for tonight’s contest against the St. Louis Blues, has been ruled out due to flu-like symptoms. In his place, the Blackhawks have recalled Rockford IceHogs netminder Kevin Lankinen on an emergency basis. To make room for Lankinen on the roster, defenseman Ian McCoshen has been re-assigned to Rockford.

Lankinen has posted a 5-2-2 record, .924 save percentage, and a 2.48 goals against average for the IceHogs so far this season. He opened some eyes with a spectacular showing at the IIHF World Championships back in May, and so far this season he has been the best goalie of the Rockford trio that also features Collin Delia and Matt Tomkins.
