As the Winter Meetings begin in San Diego this week, the Cubs formally announced David Ross’ coaching staff for the 2020 season.
A good majority of the coaches were already announced in some capacity since David Ross was introduced as Cubs manager on October 28, 2019.
It’s worth noting that a number of coaches are returning from last year’s staff, most notably Tommy Hottovy and Anthony Iapoce. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise however, as David Ross was in the front office when they picked these two to be the pitching and hitting coaches, respectively in years past.
Andy Green is a fantastic add for Ross. He gives Ross another former player who managed, admittedly, earlier than expected in their career to bounce ideas off of. Green can share his experience, both successes and failures, to help Ross along the way.
Now that the coaching staff is official, the Cubs have a lot of work to do at the Winter Meetings and for the rest of the off-season. This will be a crazy few months for the team and Cubs fans alike.
