The White Sox added organizational depth Thursday with the signing of Cheslor Cuthbert.
Cuthbert, a native of Nicaragua, was non-tendered by the Royals this offseason following a year in which he batted .246 for the Royals in 87 games.
Cuthbert always found a way to hit well against his new team during his time with the Royals, slashing .303/.361/.455 in 33 games against the South Siders a year ago.
The deal is reportedly a minor league one, which includes an invite to spring training with the club. Cuthbert has played first, third, and designated hitter for the Royals, so it’s likely he’s a depth option should the team find themselves shorthanded at any point this year.
This is a developing story and information will be added as it becomes available.
