In some White Sox broadcast news, Steve Stone will return to the TV booth as the team’s color commentator for the 2020 season and beyond.
Stone, who has been calling White Sox games since 2009, took to Twitter this afternoon to announce that he and the White Sox have agreed on a new contract that will keep him around for “multiple years.”
The camaraderie between Stone and play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti has been a joy to watch over the past two years even though the product on the field has been disappointing. Benetti’s light-hearted nature and analytical breakdowns paired with Stone’s seemingly psychic ability to predict on-field occurrences will continue to make the White Sox broadcast a worthwhile watch. In Steve Stone’s own words, he’s aboard for “the great years ahead.”
