On a busy day of MLB contract news, White Sox pitcher Evan Marshall is part of it. The right-handed reliever and the club have agreed on a $1.1 million salary for the 2020 season, per Robert Murray.
Marshall signed a minor league deal ahead of the 2019 season and impressed during Spring Training, landing himself a spot on the White Sox roster. A “diamond in the rough” of sorts, Marshall posted 1.8 bWAR, 7.28 K/9, and a 2.49 ERA in 50.2 innings over 55 games in 2019. Marshall becomes the second White Sox reliever to avoid arbitration today, as Alex Colome also settled on a deal with the club.
