White Sox, Leury Garcia Settle on 2020 Contract
The White Sox and utility man Leury Garcia have settled on a deal to avoid arbitration.
News of White Sox contract settlements has been surfacing all afternoon. Last but not least, Leury Garcia and the club have agreed on a salary for the 2020 season.
The utility man will make $3.250 million in his eighth season on the South Side. In 2019, Garcia posted 1.3 fWAR, 1.6 bWAR, slashed .279/.310/.378, and played all over the diamond for the White Sox. With the slew of offseason upgrades the club has made, Garcia will be a super-utility player off the bench once all the pieces are in place. However, he could begin the season as the starting second baseman with highly touted prospect Nick Madrigal expected to spend a period of time in the minor leagues.
