The Chicago Cubs and Willson Contreras avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $4.5 million salary in 2020, according to Jesse Rogers.

The All-Star catcher has been a hot topic of trade conversations this offseason. Given his previous success behind the plate for the Cubs, he will continue to be a sought-after commodity well into the 2020 season.

Hopefully Willy can block out the noise and build off another successful 2019 season. The catcher was voted into the All-Star game for the second straight season while posting a .272/.355/533 slash line with a career-high 24 home runs.

Here’s to hoping the backstop from Venezuela remains in Chicago for many more successful seasons.
