Blackhawks Stay Hot, Win Fifth Straight in 5-2 Victory Over Winnipeg

This team is rolling, and inching closer and closer to a playoff spot.

It was a great night all around the United Center, as the Blackhawks continued their winning ways against their division foes, the Winnipeg Jets. Patrick Kane also achieved history, as he recorded the 1,000th point of his career, with an assist on Brandon Saad‘s third-period goal.

Kane’s teammates cleared the bench to congratulate the star winger, as he became the fourth Blackhawk ever to eclipse the 1,000 point milestone.

It was a big win for the Blackhawks, as they tied the Jets for points on the season. The Hawks are now just three points out of a playoff spot. They have come a long way, as they have now won 11 of their last 15 games.

Alex Nylander opened the scoring, as he added his sixth goal of the season on a nifty backhander near the goal line. Eric Gustafsson also registered his sixth goal of the season in the first frame.

Kirby Dach looked more active tonight, as he set up David Kampf‘s third period goal by driving hard to the net. Brandon Saad added the insurance goal, which was the goal that led to Kane’s 1,000th point.

Dominik Kubalik scored his 21st goal of the season, as he hit an empty-netter to wrap up a 5-2 win for the Blackhawks. The forward groups were rolling well all night, as this team has hit its stride.

Robin Lehner was great again, as he stopped 36 the of 38 shots he faced. Lehner was especially sensational in the second period, where the Blackhawks spent a majority of the frame in the penalty box.

This team is rolling, inching closer and closer to a playoff spot. Jeremy Colliton‘s team will look to add a sixth straight win Tuesday when Joel Quenneville and the Florida Panthers come to town.
