Per James Fegan of The Athletic, Dylan Covey has elected free agency instead of accepting his assignment to AAA Charlotte.

From 2017 to 2019, Dylan Covey logged 250.1 innings over 63 games for the White Sox, posting a 6-29 record, 6.54 ERA, 5.56 FIP, and a -2.8 bWAR.

The Dylan Covey experiment just never worked out in Chicago. Instead of prolonging it, Covey has elected to move on from the organization instead of remaining with AAA Charlotte. No matter how it goes down, it’s finally time for the White Sox to move on from projects and placeholders that supplemented rosters during the rebuilding years.
