Meet The New Bear: Tre Roberson

Tre Roberson will leave the CFL to sign with the Chicago Bears.

The first big addition of the offseason is here. The Bears won the battle for the highest demanded CFL player since Cameron Wake made the jump to the NFL.

Tre Roberson played his college career as a quarterback. After three years of constant battles to be the starter at Indiana, he transferred to Illinois State in 2014 and took over the starting role for the next two years.

As he prepared to enter the 2016 NFL Draft, he made a switch to playing cornerback. After going undrafted, he was offered a tryout with the Minnesota Vikings and signed with their practice squad. During that season, he had a few stints of being released to signed back. Going into 2017, he was signed to a future/reserved contract, he was officially let go in September of that season.

In 2018, he made the move to the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders. During his two years with the team, he recorded 95 tackles, ten interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, and two forced fumbles.

Given the tone of his tweet and the fact that he chose the Bears over nine other offers, it seems as though Roberson is happy genuinely happy to be a Chicago Bear. What will this mean for the team moving forward in free agency? Could Prince Amukamara be on the chopping block?
