Obviously, we never wish injury upon any player from any team, but the Blackhawks are catching a major break ahead of tonight’s contest. When the Hawks visit Edmonton tonight, the Oilers will be without their star captain, Connor McDavid.
McDavid has been dealing with a quad injury as of late, which cannot be easy to skate on considering you kind of need one of the strongest muscles in your legs to push off from.
While no one in the hockey world wants to see arguably the most electrifying player in the game sidelined for an extended period of time, this is undoubtedly a huge break for the Blackhawks.
Beyond McDavid, Oilers forward James Neal will also miss tonight’s game due to a sprained ankle, per Ryan Rishaug of TSN.
Tonight’s game vs. the Oilers is the second of an extremely difficult stretch on the road. After Edmonton, the Hawks continue to travel to Vancouver, Calgary, and then back to Winnipeg, where they lost a heart-breaker on Sunday night.
Tonight’s game is one in which the Hawks need to kick everything into high gear and collect a much-needed win. If the Blackhawks are serious about postseason hockey, they need to get it together now.
