After some good news about his knee injury yesterday, it was announced today that Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu was one of 30 players in the nation selected the Naismith Midseason Team.

Other Big Ten players named to Naismith Trophy Midseason Team include Luka Garza of Iowa, Daniel Oturu of Minnesota, Jalen Smith of Maryland, Kaleb Wesson of Ohio State, Lamar Stevens of Penn State, and Cassius Winston of Michigan State.

Ayo Dosunmu is averaging 15.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game so far in the 2019-20 season. In addition to leading the Illini in scoring, assists, and minutes played, he has knocked down several clutch shots late in games, most notably at Wisconsin on January 8th and at Michigan on January 25th. He’s probably the best Illinois player since Dee Brown, so it’s good to see him get some well-deserved national recognition. The Illini will be hoping for a speedy recovery for their star guard as they enter the home stretch of the Big Ten schedule.
