Bears Family Comes Together for a Beautiful Cause

When a fellow Bears fan is in need, the entire Bears community rallies around them.

After a long day at work, I logged onto twitter and came across a post from /r/CHIBears – The post itself was upsetting. A fellow Bears fan, Andy Sheer, has been battling cancer and the outlook is unsettling. Andy’s son Payton has a friend, Robert Stocklaufer, who reached out to /r/CHIBears to give a family in need some love.

Cancer sucks, and most of us have been affected by it in some way or another. While the post is sad, the overwhelming support from Bears fans is something to be proud of. For the most part, Bears forums are filled with disagreements and arguments, but as good families do, we set aside our differences and came together.

In less than a day a fellow Bears fanatic Greg Braggs Jr used his pull with Tom Waddle and Andy received his first of many anticipated messages.

Tom Waddle is a class act for this one. After reaching out to Robert personally, he has given me a couple more updates. First, Matt Nagy is scheduled to face time Andy in the near future, and he has also been in contact with an undisclosed player’s wife. He is hoping that someone will go there to visit. There have also been multiple verified accounts commenting and doing their part to help give Andy and his family the love they need right now.

There is a Go Fund Me set up in Andy’s name, and any donations, thoughts, and prayers will be appreciated by the Sheer family. On behalf of everyone at On Tap Sports Net, we send our love Andy.
