Alec Regula Named OHL’s Defenseman of the Month

The 19-year-old defenseman received OHL Defenseman of the Month honors after a productive month of February.

Back in October, the Blackhawks traded forward Brendan Perlini to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for prospect Alec Regula. The team then signed the 19-year-old defenseman to a three-year deal in November, and he looks to be part of the Blackhawks’ blue line of the future.

Today, he was named the OHL’s Defenseman of the Month.

A former teammate of Adam Boqvist‘s with the London Knights, Regula put together an extremely productive February, logging 11 goals, seven assists, and 18 points over 11 games. On February 21st, he recorded a hat trick.

On the season, Regula has recorded 26 goals and 31 assists over 57 games. The 6-foot-4 blueliner has also been a leader for the Knights, as he serves as co-captain. With Brendan Perlini never really fitting into the Blackhawks’ lineup, the return of Regula looks to be a promising sight for Chicago.
