The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Dennis Gilbert from the Rockford IceHogs on an emergency basis ahead of tonight’s game at Detroit.

Rookie defenseman Lucas Carlsson was hit in the side of the head with a puck in the second period of last night’s 4-3 win over the Oilers and did not return to the game afterward. No further update on Carlsson has been given.

Gilbert played 20 games for the Hawks earlier in the season, posting one goal and two assists. He was sent back down to Rockford in early January for further development of his defensive game. For the IceHogs, Gilbert has recorded seven assists over 17 games during the 2019-20 campaign.
