Beer Review: Goose Island Chicago White Sox Golden Ale

Goose Island’s Chicago White Sox Golden Ale is cool and tough.

I recently went to a local liquor store in the southwest suburbs and finally got my hands on the new Goose Island White Sox Golden Ale. Of course, being apart of White Sox Twitter (in my own mind), I had to give this a shot and write a review on it for all my brothers and sisters who have not had the opportunity to try it yet.

First things first, the packaging is the definition of cool and tough. As soon as you look at it, you are greeted with the best logo in all of Major League Baseball. On the top of the box are the all-too-familiar pinwheels that all of us Sox fans have come to know and love. It’s most defitnley an eye-grabber.

To be honest, as stupid as it would be, I didn’t want to open the damn box and ruin the value of it. I like to collect stuff, or as my wife says, “hoard” stuff. Alas, I opened the box and was greeted by the coolest and toughest damn can I have ever seen in my entire life.

The can is super slick and badass. Once again, I hesitated to open it because I didn’t want to diminish the value. It’s a problem, I know.

Well, I’ll stop ranting now and get into the beer review.

The beer has a medium gold color and medium white foamy head. The aroma is grainy, fruity and sweet. It’s a malty medium-bodied ale with a slightly sweet and very smooth taste. It wasn’t as hoppy as I expected it to be, though it has a very nice flavor. After taking my first drink, the finish was smooth and clean. The aftertaste is a tad malty, but it’s most definitely worth the purchase.
