With every sport and March Madness on hold or canceled for the moment, Iona has found their head basketball coach in Rick Pitino. Yes, that Rick Pitino, who was fired in 2017 for an NCAA bribery investigation.
He has found a new home in New Rochelle, New York amidst the turmoil of the sports world right now. He has coached Panathinaikos in the Greek League since 2018 and informed his players that he will finish the season with them, if the season resumes.

Pitino has a very eclectic coaching history. This is a bombshell for college basketball and I wouldn’t be shocked if Pitino makes his way back to a major program soon enough.
