Per Nick Williams’s Instagram, he will indeed be leaving Chicago to go play for the Detroit Lions for the next two seasons. The deal is reportedly a two-year, $10 million dollar contract.
Williams, at 30 years of age, still warranted a decent deal considering he played out of his mind last season stepping up big time in the absence of Akiem Hicks and Bilal Nichols. For the Bears, look for them to make a move later in the draft to replace the depth that Williams’ departure creates. He finished last season with 42 tackles, 6 sacks, and 18 assisted tackles. The Bears’ defensive end room now consists of Bilal Nichols, Akiem Hicks, and Leonard Floyd, if the Bears should sign his option.
