The Bulls’ new VP of Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas has made his first front-office change by hiring J.J. Polk to serve as assistant general manager.
Polk is regarded as a salary cap specialist and has spent the last seven years working for the New Orleans Pelicans as their Director of Basketball Administration department. It’s also been reported that Polk has a strong knowledge of the NBA CBA. Fun fact about Polk, he received his law degree from the University of Illinois. He also played professional basketball in Sweden, Latvia, and China. All of the info on his tenure in New Orleans can be found here.
Bringing in Polk as an assistant GM makes sense, as it allows Arturas Karnisovas to continue adding more basketball minds to the Bulls’ front office. It seems the new guy is already hard at work making changes to bring the Bulls back to legitimate contending status again.
